Xavier Bell to Arizona: Three-star safety signs with the Wildcats

The lengthy safety will help Arizona’s secondary

Xavier Bell is a quiet guy. He doesn’t like to be in the spotlight on social media and doesn’t look for attention. A lot of Arizona Wildcats fans probably didn’t know about him until he committed on June 17.

The 6-foot-2, 185 pound safety comes from Southern California powerhouse Mater Dei High School (Santa Ana, California), who finished number one in the country this past season.

Bell took his first visit to Tucson on July 23. I caught up with him after his visit to get his thoughts on Arizona.

"It (Arizona) was everything I knew it would be and more. Going out there and seeing what I was getting into took my level of excitement from 100 to 1000. I can't wait to see what the future holds with this group of ballers we have in the Class of '17. We are for sure a group you can't look over without hesitating. Everything was great on the visit, but you know how it is when it's time to grab your jersey number, a helmet, and a pair of gloves and flick up. And when I walked out of the tunnel onto the field, I envisioned what it would be like to be a Wildcat on game day and I loved it!"

Bell finished his senior season with 40 tackles, 1.0 TFL, 2 PBU, and a forced fumble. Over two seasons he accumulated 62 tackles, 1.0 TFL, 3 INT, 2 PBU, and 2 forced fumbles.

Bell is a long, rangy safety who can patrol the top of the field and is hard-hitting enough to come up and stop the run. He will be a great fit at either the free or bandit safety positions. Because of his size and skill set, it is easy to see Bell taking the field early in his career.

His junior season highlights are below.
