Joshua Brown to Arizona: Three-star linebacker signs with Wildcats
A product of Antonio Pierce will head to Tucson
The Arizona Wildcats loaded up on linebackers in this 2017 recruiting class, with about seven guys who can be called on to fill the void on the roster. Among those is three-star linebacker Joshua Brown, 6-foot-2, 243 pound prospect out of football powerhouse Long Beach Poly (Long Beach, CA).
Brown has been a defensive power for Wildcat legend Antonio Pierce, who has coached him for the past three seasons on varsity. In three seasons, Brown has racked up 339.5 tackles, 8.5 sacks and five interceptions. He is tied for second in school history in career tackles.
While his recruitment didn’t exactly blow up, Brown earned high honors throughout his senior campaign. He was recently named Long Beach Poly’s Athlete of the Year and was named to the US Football National Team. He was just recently named Defensive Player of the Year.

Arizona has loaded up on linebackers in this class, and for good reason. First-year linebackers coach Scott Boone will be without Paul Magloire Jr., Michael Barton, Cody Ippolito, Jake Matthews, and John Kenny, five of the top 11 tacklers in 2016.
DeAndre’ Miller, Brandon Rutt, and Carrington Vaughn figure to be the next guys up. Second year guys like Lee Anderson, Jacob Colacion, and Kahi Neves shouldn’t be overlooked.
But Josh Brown has a very good chance at seeing the field early this season over some of the other linebackers in this class.
