Lorenzo Burns to Arizona: CB recruit signs with Wildcats, spurns Colorado

Arizona landed a 3-star corner in Lorenzo Burns over Pac-12 South foe Colorado

The Arizona Wildcats have put together another piece of their recruiting puzzle, adding 3-star corner Lorenzo Burns to the incoming class of 2016. Burns had it down to Arizona and Colorado, also holding offers to California, Nebraska, Utah and Washington. Donté Williams was one of the lead recruiters for Burns and had an in-home visit with him not too long ago.

Arizona has added a lot of secondary help in this recruiting class, going heavy on safeties and corners. One corner, Isaiah Hayes, is already enrolled and on campus. Arizona missed out on 3-star corner Terrell Burgess, as he chose Utah just a week ago. While I didn't think that Arizona would land both, I felt pretty good about the chances of getting at least one.

He was a two-way standout at Linfield Christian, playing corner, wide receiver and a little quarterback, mostly in a wildcat formation. I was able to speak to Lorenzo throughout the entirety of his recruiting process and always got a good feeling from him when he spoke about Arizona. While Cal and Utah were among his top choices towards the end, I was shocked to see Colorado as the next school up.

Burns is a freak athlete with some freakish speed. Most of his highlights are of him playing on offense, which also gives you the idea that the staff wouldn't be opposed to turning him over to the other side of the ball. We've seen this with Shun Brown, Johnny Jackson, DaVonté Neal, and we'll see it this spring with Cam Denson. I like his versatility a lot and I think that's something that this class has a lot of. No matter what packages or formations Arizona will be running, the guys in this class will find a way on to the field.

His 22-minute senior highlight reel is below.
