3-star JuCo DT PJ Johnson commits to Arizona
Arizona’s d-line just got more beef
The Arizona Wildcats have landed junior college defensive tackle PJ Johnson of City College of San Francisco.
Johnson announced his commitment Wednesday on Twitter.
He is unranked in 247Sports’ database, and held offers from Rutgers, UNLV, New Mexico and Kansas among others.
Johnson was offered by Arizona last Tuesday and took his official visit just a few days later. He is expected to enroll early and participate in spring ball.
A Sacramento, Calif. native, Johnson fits exactly what Arizona is looking for along the defensive line. Standing at 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds, he is a load and will bring much needed size to the unit.
In 10 games for the CCSF Rams, Johnson recorded 17 tackles, 8.5 TFL, 4.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.
Listed as a freshman, Johnson will likely have four years to play three at Arizona.
Johnson moves quickly for someone his size. He has solid footwork and uses his hands and strength to his advantage.
