Devaughn Cooper to Arizona: WR recruit signs with Wildcats, spurns ASU and Syracuse

Arizona adding yet another burst of power at receiver

The Arizona Wildcats are going to be adding some big time speed on the offensive side of the ball with standout receiver Devaughn Cooper. The 5-10 receiver out of Narbonne High School (Harbor City, CA) had offers to Arizona State, Michigan and Washington, but stuck with Arizona, after taking official visits to Syracuse and Arizona State within the last few weeks.

Devaughn Cooper was heavily recruited by early enrollee Khalil Tate. The two had a great relationship, both hailing from the Southern Los Angeles area and playing in the same high school division. Sean Riley was also a very pivotal piece to Cooper's commitment. Riley though then opted for Syracuse.

I'm a big fan of Cooper and his abilities. He can outrun a defensive back, block downfield, and make some plays in the middle of the field. While Arizona still has monster depth at receiver, I think Cooper has a shot at seeing the field this season. With a rotation of Samajie Grant, Nate Phillips, Trey Griffey, Tyrell Johnson, Cam Denson, Shun Brown, and that doesn't even bring Tony Ellison, Bryant O'Georgia or Darick Holmes Jr. to light.

Cooper is a guy that will stretch the field and with some accurate deep balls, he could be the defensive nightmare for coordinators across the Pac-12. I did a full, in-depth analysis of DeVaughn Cooper earlier in the fall, so check that out. He led his Narbonne Gauchos in receptions, yards and touchdowns, with 47 catches for 929 yards and 14 touchdowns.

His senior year highlights are below.
