Arizona to host Belgian prospect Omar Thielemans

He is kind of a mystery

The Arizona Wildcats have offered Belgian prospect Omar Thielemans, who will be visiting the UA campus Friday, according to his Twitter page.

Thielemans plays for the Belgian club BC Ostend, though it’s hard to find much information on him.

According to the YouTube video below (which appears to be from Thielemans’ personal channel), he is a 6-foot-6, 200-pound shooting guard/forward with a 6-foot-8 wingspan.

Thielemans was born in September 1999, meaning he is 18 years old and likely a 2018 prospect.

Based on those highlights above — which were actually fairly impressive, albeit the competition didn’t look great — he appears to have a solid shooting stroke and the ability to put the ball on the floor.

It’s unclear if any other schools are pursuing Thielemans, but Arizona’s interest makes sense since it still can add up to six more players this offseason.

Based on his size alone, Thielemans might be able to play the 2, 3 and the 4 and that type of versatility is always useful.
