Report: Aaron Gordon to participate in 2018 NBA Slam Dunk Contest
For the third straight year
Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon will be competing in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest for the third straight year, reports Yahoo! Sports.
The participants are expected to be officially announced next week.
Indiana Pacers guard Victor Oladipo (Gordon’s former teammate), and Mavericks guard Dennis Smith Jr. are also expected to participate, per Yahoo!
Lakers forward Larry Nance Jr. is on the fence.
It is sort of a surprise that Gordon is competing, because the former Wildcat said after the 2017 Dunk Contest that he would not be participating in 2018.
Aaron Gordon tells me he won't compete in 2018 Dunk Contest. "This event takes a lot out of you when you approach it as seriously as I do."

In 2016, Gordon and former UCLA standout Zach LaVine put on a ridiculous display, though LaVine would ultimately outlast Gordon in the final round to take the trophy.

In 2017, Gordon was unable to advance past the first round, but did have this cool drone dunk.

Now we’ll get to see what Gordon has planned in his third year.
The fourth-year player is having an excellent season in Orlando, averaging 18.4 points and 8.2 rebounds.
The dunk contest is scheduled for Feb. 16 in Los Angeles.
