Arizona rises to No. 11 in AP Poll

The Wildcats move up three spots after sweeping the Bay Area schools

After a road sweep of the Bay Area schools, the Arizona Wildcats have moved up three spots in the latest AP Poll, now sitting at No. 11 in the rankings.

Here is the new poll in its entirety:

  1. Villanova Wildcats
  2. Virginia Cavaliers
  3. Purdue Boilermakers
  4. Duke Blue Devils
  5. Kansas Jayhawks
  6. Michigan State Spartans
  7. West Virginia Mountaineers
  8. Xavier Musketeers
  9. Cincinnati Bearcats
  10. North Carolina Tar Heels
  11. Arizona Wildcats
  12. Oklahoma Sooners
  13. Ohio State Buckeyes
  14. Texas Tech Red Raiders
  15. Gonzaga Bulldogs
  16. Saint Mary’s Gaels
  17. Wichita State Shockers
  18. Clemson Tigers
  19. Auburn Tigers
  20. Florida Gators
  21. Arizona State Sun Devils
  22. Tennessee Volunteers
  23. Nevada Wolf Pack
  24. Rhode Island Rams
  25. Michigan Wolverines

Arizona and ASU remain the only Pac-12 schools in the Top 25. But the Sun Devils continue to slide as they were knocked off by the Stanford Cardinal last Wednesday.

Arizona has won four straight and returns home this week to play the Colorado Buffaloes and Utah Utes on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.

The Wildcats are 6-1 in the Pac-12, good for first place in the conference, but the Buffaloes are the one team that have beaten them in league play this year, so Thursday’s matchup is a chance for Arizona to atone for that loss — and gain some separation atop the conference standings.

Unrelated, but this is the first time in 68 weeks that the Kentucky Wildcats are not ranked.
