Texas A&M grad transfer DB Nick Harvey visiting Arizona

He started 12 games at cornerback for the Aggies in 2016

The Arizona Wildcats are hosting a graduate transfer this weekend, but not of the basketball variety.

Texas A&M defensive back Nick Harvey is currently in Tucson, according to his Twitter page.

Harvey missed the 2017 season due to knee surgery, allowing him to keep a fifth year of eligibility. He decided to bolt College Station after Jimbo Fisher took over for now-Arizona head coach Kevin Sumlin.

In 2016, the 5-foot-10, 185-pound started 12 games at cornerback, leading the Aggies with 10 broken up passes. Harvey also ranked fourth on the team with 66 tackles, including 46 solo stops, and returned one punt which he took for a 73-yard touchdown.

A former four-star recruit, Harvey was the No. 60 player in the 2014 class, per 247Sports composite rankings. The Lancaster, Texas native was the No. 8 player in his state and the No. 7 cornerback nationally.

Arizona returns both cornerback starters from a season ago in Jace Whittaker and Lorenzo Burns, but Harvey has extensive experience playing the nickel and would add quality depth to the Wildcats’ secondary.

But he just visited Auburn and “loved every moment of it” and has visited South Carolina so he will be a tough haul.

Perhaps his previous relationship with Sumlin can be the difference-maker.
