How former Arizona Wildcats performed in the NBA in 2017-18

Let’s check in on all the former Wildcats in the Association

Since the NBA regular season has come to a close, let’s take a look at how all the former Arizona Wildcats performed this year.

Lauri Markkanen, Chicago Bulls

2017-18 stats: 15.2 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 1.2 APG, 43.4 FG%, 36.2 3PT%

Markkanen had a fantastic rookie season, and is now a key cog in the Bulls’ rebuild.

Markkanen also engraved his name into the history books during his rookie campaign. The Finland native became the first rookie ever to make 10 three pointers in the first 3 games of his career. Later in the season, he hit 100 3-pointers in just 41 games which is the fastest anyone has hit 100 3-pointers.

He also became just the fourth Bulls rookie to record 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in a season, joining the likes of Michael Jordan, Elton Brand, and Dave Greenwood.

T.J. McConnell, Philadelphia 76ers

2017-18 stats: 6.3 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 4.0 APG, 49.9 FG%, 43.5 3PT%

Although McConnell’s numbers don’t jump off the page, he had a solid season for the 76ers. He is a quality backup point guard, and became the first and only player in Philadelphia 76ers history to record a triple-double off the bench.

McConnell will get to make his playoff debut this April, as the 76ers were able to secure the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference. They host the Miami Heat on Saturday.

Aaron Gordon, Orlando Magic

2017-18 stats: 17.6 PPG, 7.9 RPG, 2.3 APG, 43.4 FG%, 33.6 3PT%

Aaron Gordon had a career yearm and he was the most promising player on a poor Magic team. He is seeking a max contract and he just might get one.

Stanley Johnson, Detroit Pistons

2017-18 stats: 8.7 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 1.6 APG, 37.5 FG%, 28.6 3PT%

Although Johnson has some major flaws in his game, he started more games than not this season. After the Blake Griffin trade, Johnson started in 50 out of the 69 he appeared in.

Johnson’s offensive production continues to disappoint, however.

Channing Frye, Los Angeles Lakers

2017-18 stats: 5 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 0.7 APG, 49.1 FG%, 33.9 3PT%

After being traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Los Angeles Lakers at the trade deadline, Frye was a non-factor. He only appeared in nine games with the purple and gold, though part of that was because he had to undergo an appendectomy late in the season.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Brooklyn Nets

2017-18 stats: 13.9 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 2.5 APG, 47.2 FG%, 24.1 3PT%

Hollis-Jefferson had his best season yet, posting career numbers in almost every statistical category. And he’s still a great defender, so he’s become a solid starter for the rebuilding Nets.

Andre Iguodala, Golden State Warriors

2017-18 stats: 6.0 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 3.3 APG, 46.3 FG%, 28.2 3PT%

Andre Iguodala hasn’t posted eye-popping numbers for a few years now, but he remains a important glue-guy for a Warriors team bidding for a third NBA title. They have the No. 2 seed in the West and will face the Spurs on Saturday in the first round.

Steve Kerr recently called Iguodala the “unsung hero” of the Warriors.

Richard Jefferson, Denver Nuggets

2017-18 stats: 1.5 PPG, 0.9 RPG, 0.8 APG, 44.4 FG%, 28.6 3PT%

Jefferson barely suited up for the Nuggets this season. The 37-year-old just couldn’t carve out a role on a young, up-and-coming Denver team. His veteran presence was probably beneficial, though.

Jerryd Bayless, Philadelphia 76ers

2017-18 stats: 7.9 PPG, 2.1 RPG, 1.4 APG 41.6 FG%, 37.0 3PT%

Although Bayless wasn’t the most productive on the court this season he was a good veteran leader to the young core of the 6ers.

Jason Terry, Milwaukee Bucks

2017-18 stats: 3.3 PPG, 0.9 RPG, 1.2 APG, 38.3 FG%, 34.8 3PT%

Terry hasn’t done much for the Bucks this season, but like many other former Wildcats in the NBA, he has been a veteran leader for his team. The Bucks will take on the Celtics on Sunday in the playoffs.

Kadeem Allen, Boston Celtics

2017-18 stats: 1.1 PPG, 0.6 RPG, 0.7 APG, 27.3 FG%

Allen was on a two-way contract during his rookie year and was great with the Celtics’ G-League team, so he has been earning some playing time with the parent club who have been riddled with injuries. Allen has appeared in 18 games for Boston, including one start.

Kobi Simmons, Memphis Grizzles

2017-18 stats: 6.1 PPG, 1.6 RPG, 2.1 APG, 42.3 FG%, 28.2 3PT%

Like Kadeem Allen, Simmons played very well in the G-League, so he earned a call-up by the Grizzlies. Memphis is awful, but it has allowed Simmons to get extensive playing time. He appeared in 32 games, averaging 20.1 minutes per contest.

Simmons recently recorded his first 20-point game.

Solomon Hill, New Orleans Pelicans

2017-18 stats: 2.4 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 1.8 APG, 26.8 FG%, 19.0 3PT%

Hill missed the first 69 games of the season with a torn hamstring, and is just now getting back into form as the Pelicans gear up for their first-round playoff series against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Still, Hill has had a dismal season offensively, shooting 11-41 from the field and 4-21 from 3.
