College basketball recruiting: Zion Williamson will ‘probably’ take official visits to Arizona, Kansas and UCLA

The YouTube sensation is the No. 2 prospect in 2018

Known for his jaw-dropping dunks and electric athleticism, Zion Williamson said he will “probably” officially visit the Arizona Wildcats along with the Kansas Jayhawks and UCLA Bruins, reports The State’s Lou Bezjak.

“Because they are farther away,” writes Bezjak of Williamson.

Williamson, who attends Spartanburg Day School in South Carolina, is the No. 2 player in the 2018 class and the No. 1 small forward, according to 247Sports.

“One of the most unique prospects in high school basketball, Zion Williamson emerged in the spring of 2016, as one of the best players and prospects in the 2018 class,” reads Williamson’s scouting report on Scout.com.

“At 6-foot-7, Williamson has thick, but strong build that's equipped with a long set of arms. He's an explosive athlete that will catch you off guard if you're watching for the first time. He's quick off his feet and reacts quickly to plays. Williamson is a very good rebounder, both in and out of his area, because of his combination of athleticism, strength, toughness and motor.

“Williamson plays hard on both ends. Offensively, he's versatile, as he'll face up defenders and drive the ball, play in the post and get out in transition. The next step for him is to develop his long-range jump shot and continue to improve his ball handling skills.”

Williamson’s dunks and blocks have made him a YouTube sensation, and he was on the cover of Slam Magazine in June, a rather rare feat for a high school player.

Unsurprisingly, nearly every school is recruiting him, though Williamson has yet to announce a list of preferred schools.

He told The State that he would prefer to commit before his senior season begins.

“Right now, I’m looking at a lot of schools,” he said. “I’m probably not going to make a list. I’m going to pick a school when it feels right.”

Williamson said he wants to be a package deal with five-star point guard Immanuel Quickley, who is expected to land at Kentucky.
