Marvin Bagley III to officially visit Arizona in ‘the first week of August’

He also may reclassify to 2017

Marvin Bagley III will officially visit the Arizona Wildcats in “the first week of August,” his father told Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog.com.

Bagley, the top prospect in 2018, said Thursday that he plans to take official visits to Duke, Arizona, and USC, and could visit at least two other schools.

It was reported Friday that Bagley may reclassify as a 2017 prospect, however his father didn’t exactly confirm that notion when asked about it.

“LOL!!! You guys are too funny,” he told AZCentral. “You should ask whoever started the rumor. They seem to know more than we do.”

The Wildcats currently have 13 players under scholarship for 2017, so if Bagley were to reclassify, UA would have to find a way to make room for him for the upcoming season.

The 6-foot-11 forward from Sierra Canyon High School in Chatsworth, Calif has a top six of Arizona, UCLA, USC, Kansas, Duke, and Kentucky.

Jerry Meyer of 247Sports wrote Friday that he believes it will be a ‘showdown’ between Duke and USC for Bagley.

Zagoria reports Arizona head coach Sean Miller was in South Carolina this week to watch Bagley in Nike Peach Jam.

Bagley will take his official visit to Duke when Peach Jam concludes, then will head to Arizona after that — and perhaps to several other schools.

“The Duke visit was completely geographical and we can drive, and we chose those three because we can drive to all of them,” Bagley’s father told Zagoria. “And then we’ll get UCLA after, and then Kentucky and Kansas. We plan to visit them all. We’re going to try to get them in the best way we can.”
