Arizona football: Freshman kicker Lucas Havrisik nails three 60-yard field goals in a row

Quite the leg from the 18-year-old

Since the departure of Casey Skowron and Drew Riggleman in 2015, the Arizona Wildcats' kicking game has not been the same.

Arizona's coaching staff spent a lot of time and resources trying to land itself another kicking specialist for the 2017 recruiting class, and Lucas Havrisik is who it landed.

Havrisik, a five-star kicker and fourth-ranked prospect in the 2017 class according to Chris Sailor, committed to Arizona just a few weeks before National Signing Day.

UA’s freshmen have been on campus getting acclimated to their new life before practice officially starts on July 31, and Havrisik has evidently been working on his game.

On Saturday, he booted three 60-yard field goals in a row. Take a look:

Havrisik has been praised by evaluators for having great power on both field goals and kickoffs. Chris Sailor had this to write about him:

Lucas is a big time kicking prospect. He is a great athlete with one of the stronger legs in his class. Hits a pure ball off the ground on field goals and is extremely accurate. One of the best field kickers in the nation without a doubt. His kickoffs are strong and consistent. He drives the ball to the back of the end zone with great consistency. He is confident player that does very well under pressure. Lucas also shows great ability as a punter. He has the tools to dominate the D1 level. Outstanding college prospect.

At Norco High, Havrisik went 11 for 16 on field goals, with longs of 43, 44, 47, 48, and two from 51 yards out. He punted 40 times for 1,591 yards, averaging just under 40 yards a kick. He kicked off 87 times, forcing a touchback on 82 of them.

The only other kicker on Arizona’s roster is Josh Pollack while Jake Glatting and Matt Aragon are listed as the team’s punters (though Aragon is also listed as a wide receiver, and was used on the outside in the spring showcase this offseason).

Havrisik certainly has the leg to come in and win either job immediately.
