Arizona football recruiting: 3-star two-way lineman Aaron Frost visiting Tucson in July

Frost is looking forward to his Tucson visit

The Arizona Wildcats did not have success recruiting offensive linemen in 2017. The only lineman UA brought in was Edgar Burrola, a three-star prospect coming off a shoulder injury.

As a result, the Wildcats are expected to lack depth up front in the next couple seasons but to correct the problem, UA’s staff has been aggressive on the recruiting trail.

Enter Aaron Frost.

The 6-foot-5, 300 pound standout from Long Beach Poly (Long Beach, Calif.) is currently up to five offers, and Arizona joins Arizona State, Fresno State, Colorado State, and San Diego State as the schools vying for his services.

Frost said he talks to San Diego State and Arizona State the most, but it’s still early in his recruitment so Arizona has plenty of time to make an impression on the big lineman —and it will start at the end of July.

Frost will visit Arizona on July 29. He has already visited SDSU and ASU.

“That’s it so far,” he said. “... I’m looking forward to to seeing the campus and the coaches.”

The upcoming visit could go a long way for Arizona in Frost’s recruitment if all goes well.

Frost has a former teammate on the Wildcats’ roster in freshman linebacker Joshua Brown.

“He came to practice and said he’ll say what’s up when I get out there,” Frost said.

Frost does have legitimate interest in the ‘Cats and Brown has been in his ear about Arizona.

“From what Coach [Marcel] Yates and [Josh Brown] have said, it sounds awesome,” Frost said. “I can’t wait.”

Frost plays both offensive and defensive line in high school, but said schools are looking at him to play along the offensive front. He said he’s fine playing on either side of the ball.

“The best aspect of my game is my toughness,” Frost said. “I feel like I can take anyone on.”

Frost said he is focusing on getting faster this offseason, which would help him as a defensive lineman should he play defense at the next level.

“So I can get to the ball carrier quicker,” he explained.

Frost’s offensive technique is raw, but he has notable upside.

He has a good frame and great power and body control for someone his size. As he noted, his speed is a little lacking on the defensive side of the ball, but his power and vision is solid.

If he is able to increase his burst, he could be a solid defensive lineman at the next level.

Defensively, Frost finished his junior season with 17 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, and a sack.
