Arizona basketball: Red-Blue Game predictions
A totally serious take on what will happen Friday night in McKale
The unofficial start to the Arizona Wildcats’ basketball season is upon us with the Red-Blue Game going down Friday night.
Yes, it’s a big deal to the Arizona basketball fan, but can we really learn much about this team that is going to have a ton of new pieces this year? Ehhh...
That’s why we’re offering up our totally serious* predictions for what will transpire in McKale Friday night.
*no seriousness ahead
Steve Apter: Free SAT tutoring offered by Hillcrest Prep. Utah somehow gets called for a few false start penalties. Blue wins 184 - 183 on a corner three by Jake Desjardins. Kobi Simmons jumps up on the the rim, stands on it, and drops the ball in while simultaneously flipping a water bottle on the top of the backboard.
Alec Sills-Trausch: Local 2032 prospect sees event for the first time and commits to Sean Miller on the spot. Miller, seeing this little baller, accepts, knowing that by then, Kentucky probably will already have eight toddlers committed. And people say recruiting has gotten crazy now.
James Schlittenhart: Pink/Black defeats Gold/White in a true display of revered Wildcat tradition.
Drake Horner: Gabe York somehow earns another year of eligibility. He drops 50 on Allonzo Trier and everyone gets another year of #yorkcity as York’s team wins 103-90.
Ryan Kelapire: This is a bold prediction, but the Arizona Wildcats are going to win. I know they’re underdogs in this game, but I have a feeling they’re going to play well and escape McKale Center with a hard-fought victory.
David Stevenson: During a timeout and completely unscripted, DeAndre Ayton suddenly appears at the scorer’s table with the PA mic. McKale completely shuts down in utter silence and nerves. Ayton takes a deep breath and boldly reassures everyone that his grades are in order that he will be there next year. McKale erupts in relief as Sean Miller races over to give Ayton the first of many sweaty hugs. The game and dunk contest are now mere formalities in everyone’s minds: Ayton is coming.
Gabe Encinas: Lots of over analyzation of every statistic and minute being distributed. Probably a lot of hype around the freshmen and how deep this team will be. This will finally be the year for Arizona basketball. Sean Miller finally reaches the first Final Four for Arizona in 16 years and brings this basketball school their second National Championship in program history.
