This would never happen in Tucson

T.J. McConnell will probably never have to pay for a drink in Tucson again the rest of his life. But, where he currently plays, Philadelphia, this is apparently not the case. From the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

T.J. McConnell had just finished a recent game with the Philadelphia 76ers when he and his father, a few family members and some friends decided to visit an establishment within walking distance of Wells Fargo Center. T.J. was first to the door when a worker announced there was a $10 cover charge, but free admittance with a 76ers ticket stub.

"He played," said Tim McConnell, pointing at his son.

The worker still wanted $10.

"No, you don't understand. He played in the game," Tim McConnell tried to reason.

No matter. It was $10.

Oh Philadelphia

- Ryan Anderson went 11-18 from the field and scored 27 points in his first Portsmouth Invitational game. Gabe York also played in that game. He only scored ten points on 4-12 shooting

- As promised, it was a busy day for Arizona basketball recruiting. Terrance Ferguson committed, Kobi Simmons signed, and that makes five potential first-round draft picks on next year's roster

- Former Wildcat Justin Simon is visiting St. John's

- Other former Wildcats from longer ago spearheaded the best regular season in NBA history

Football

- Boulder Creek QB Gunther Johnson will walk-on at Arizona after signing with NAIA Montana Tech

- Special teams coach Charlie Ragle was mic'd up. We'll round up all of these videos once they all get published

Baseball

- The baseball team also had a nice signing day, inking three of the top West Coast junior college pitchers

- They are still projected to be in the NCAA Tournament by major outlets. Baseball America has them going to Starkville, while D1Baseball has them going to Coral Gables. Both happen to be projected as the No. 2 National Seeds, so that's kind of interesting
