Arizona football recruiting: Breaking down 3-star running back commit JJ Taylor

Taylor gives Arizona four running backs for 2016

Arizona's second commitment of the weekend came from the fourth running back of the class, 5-6 155lb 3-star running back, JJ Taylor. After speaking to him earlier this week, he had told me that he was going to commit after this visit, and he followed through.

Ranked No. 20 among all-purpose running backs in the nation, Taylor wasn't nearly as recognized as much as he should have been. Hailing from Centennial (Corona, CA), he holds offers from Nevada, Ohio, and Washington State, among others. He was offered by the Arizona coaching staff back on June 6th, and clearly didn't need much time for his decision.

I'm a big fan of Taylor and clearly, so is Matt Dudek.

Taylor is very, very small, But he is an explosive running back that can cutback for days, taking only one step to change his entire direction without losing any speed. He plays much bigger than his size and is surprinsgly strong, able to break a few tackles and can shrug off some defenders. He's fearless when running downfield and can also be used out of the backfield on a swing pass, similar to how Arizona uses a back in the flats. If there would be an Arizona comparison to him, it would be a Keola Antolin-style back.

Although Taylor gives Arizona four running backs for 2016, he can be used in multiple ways and should be able to be a dynamic playmaker in a few years for Rich Rodriguez.
