Arizona basketball: Kaleb Tarczewski seeks to becoming winningest player in Wildcats' history

Bet you can't name the winningest player in Arizona history right now

Now that Kaleb Tarczewski is officially going to be a member of the 2015-16 Arizona Wildcats, there's certainly an interesting storyline that'll come up in the middle of the center's senior season.

In Jeff Goodman's article announcing the return of Arizona's big man, Goodman points out that Tarczewski is just 18 wins shy of becoming the winningest player in the history of Arizona basketball.

"That's crazy to me," Tarczewski told Goodman, "especially when you look at all the great players that have played here."

But there is no mention of who the guy is that currently holds that distinction.

That guy is none other than....Matt Muehlebach.

Muehlebach, who was at Arizona from 1987-91, was part of 117 Wildcat victories, including 64-straight at home, making him the only four-year player to never lose a home game according to the book 100 Things Arizona Fans Should Know and Do Before They Die.

Tarczewski currently has 94 wins, which actually puts him 24 shy of the record as Steve Rivera points out, not 18. Kaleb has also been a part of 49 wins at McKale Center, putting him 15 shy of Muehlebach in that category.

Either way, Arizona fans should be excited to have Tarczewski back in the low post. Having a senior leader at center will certainly be a crucial part of the team's mission to advance past the Elite Eight in 2016.
