Just a day after signing with the New England Patriots practice squad, former Arizona Wildcats running back J.J. Taylor has been promoted to the active 53-man roster, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.
In a corresponding move, the Patriots placed former Alabama running back Damien Harris on injured reserve, meaning he will miss at least three games.
The Patriots have signed RB J.J. Taylor from their practice squad and placed Damien Harris on IR, per source. Harris will miss at least 3 games. Taylor had a great camp.

Fields notes that Taylor, an undrafted free agent, “had a great camp” but we’ll see if that amounts to any playing time. The Patriots’ running back room still includes Sony Michel, James White and Rex Burkhead.
Taylor is one of four Wildcats on an active roster for Week 1, the others being Nick Foles (Bears), Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (49ers) and Rob Gronkowski (Buccaneers). It’s possible Nick Folk, also with the Patriots’ practice squad, gets promoted as well.
Will Parks (Eagles) and Dane Cruikshank (Titans) will begin the year on injured reserve.
Jace Whittaker is on the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad.
