The ‘Cats sent out offers across three classes this week

The Arizona Wildcats are continuing to hit the road and check in on prospects and adding new ones to their board.

The ‘Cats are looking not only to continue adding to the 2019 class, but they are looking to the future as well. This past week the UA added multiple 2020 and even a 2021 prospect to their board.

Let’s take a look at Arizona’s newest targets on the offensive side of the ball in the second part of this week’s SitRep.

Quarterbacks

Hudson Card

Class: 2020

Ranking: 4-star, 170th nationally, 2nd-ranked dual threat QB (247Sports)

Height/Weight: 6-foot-2, 167 pounds

School/Hometown: Lake Travis High School/Austin, TX

2017 Stats (16 games): 57-for-84, 597 yards, 6 TD, 3 INT; 64 car, 491 yards, 6 TD; 69 rec, 1,137 yards, 13 TD

Notes: Card is the true definition of an athlete. He can play quarterback, running back, and wide receiver. As a QB he throws a pretty decent ball. He does stare down his receiver and that can cause some issues at the next level. I like him as a receiver better. He has really good concentration and hands, and he can use his arm to create successful trick plays. He also has impressive speed and an explosive first step.

Shane Illingworth

Class: 2020

Ranking: 4-star, 152nd nationally, 6th ranked pro-style QB

Height/Weight: 6-foot-6, 225 pounds

School/Hometown: Norco High School/Norco, CA

2017 Stats (6 games): 42-for-66, 613 yards, 10 TD, 0 INT; 16 car, 33 yards, 1 TD

Offers: Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisville, San Jose State

Notes: Illingworth has the size and arm strength that coaches want in their QB. His footwork in the pocket is worth noting and it allows him to sidestep would-be tacklers and find his receiver downfield. He can make plays with his feet if he needs to, but his bread and butter is his arm. He is only at six offers as of now but as his skills grow and mature this season, expect that number to go up.

Preston Stone

Class: 2021

Ranking: Unranked by 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6-foot-2, 185 pounds

School/Hometown: Parish Episcopal School/Dallas, TX

2017 Stats (11 games): 201-for-339, 3,199 yards, 34 TD, 7 INT; 82 car, 216 yards, 4 TD

Notes: As you can see by the amount of offers he has, he is talented. He played in 11 games....as a true freshman. His film is impressive indeed. I really don’t need to say much but watch his film. It’s quite impressive.

Needless to say he is way more advanced than any freshman QB I’ve seen.

All Purpose Back

Jamaal Bell

Class: 2019

Ranking: 3-star, 476th nationally, 5th ranked APB (247Sports)

Height/Weight: 5-foot-10, 165 pounds

School/Hometown: Antelope Valley High School/Lancaster, CA

2017 Stats (9 games): 24 car, 246 yards, 3 TD; 46 rec, 828 yards, 11 TD

Offers: Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Nevada, Oregon State, San Jose State, Utah, UTEP, Washington State

Notes: Bell is an explosive athlete. For example, he had seven kick returns and five, FIVE, were returned for touchdowns. He is a great mix of vision, speed, hands, and really solid route running. His agility helps his route running go to a new level and helps him create separation. Bell’s highlights are fun to watch and is a player I see UA aggressively pursuing.

Wide Receivers

Matt Polk

Class: 2020

Ranking: Unranked by 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6-foot-2, 180 pounds

School/Hometown: Saguaro High School/Scottsdale, AZ

2017 Stats (7 games): 5 rec, 52 yards, 1 TD

Offers: Arizona, Florida

Notes: Polk is the younger brother of 2019 Arizona offeree Nate Polk, who also plays at Saguaro. The younger Polk’s stats aren’t anything to write home about, but remember, he is just coming into his junior year. He has a ton of upside and has the size that coaches want in an outside receiver. He shows some toughness, able to hold onto the ball after taking a big hit. He also has some skill in run blocking. He is primed to have a breakout year his junior season and could see his stock soar.

Offensive Line

Cole Birmingham

Class: 2019

Position: Offensive Tackle

Ranking: 3-star, 721st nationally, 62nd ranked OT (247Sports)

Height/Weight: 6-foot-4, 294 pounds

School/Hometown: Katy High School/Katy, TX

Offers: Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Boise State, Boston College, California, Colorado, Houston, Kansas, Louisiana-Monroe, Memphis, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Rice, SMU, South Alabama, Stephen F. Austin, Texas State, Texas Tech, UCLA, UTSA, Vanderbilt

Notes: Birmingham has garnered a ton of attention from schools all over the country and he deserves the attention. He controls his body well and is solid in pass protection because of it. His footwork is a little robotic but he is still able to do his job effectively. He gets great push along the line which makes him more effective in run blocking. Birmingham can bounce around the entire line at the next level.

Julius Buelow

Class: 2019

Position: Offensive Tackle

Ranking: 4-star, 203rd nationally, 20th ranked OT (247Sports)

Height/Weight: 6-foot-8, 320 pounds

School/Hometown: Kapolei High School/Kapolei, HI

Offers: Arizona, Arizona State, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Fresno State, New Mexico, Notre Dame, Oregon, Oregon State, TCU, UCLA, Utah, Utah State, Washington, Washington State

Notes: Coach Uiagalelei is making his way through Hawaii and Buelow was the recipient of an offer. He is a rather large human being and is quite a wall to get around if you are a defensive end. He seems a little raw at times but man, he is powerful. He can easily overpower any opponent but he does have the building blocks for a solid technique.

Andrew Coker

Class: 2019

Position: Offensive Tackle

Ranking: 3-star, 497th nationally, 48th ranked OT (247Sports)

Height/Weight: 6-foot-6, 310 pounds

School/Hometown: Taylor High School/Katy, TX

Offers: Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Houston, Indiana, Kansas State, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas State, Texas Tech

Notes: Coker is another huge lineman that Arizona is looking into. As are a lot of schools around the country. He is quick and moves well for someone his size. Coker knows how to use his hands and has great drive off of the line. He also has a nasty streak to his game which is an attribute of lineman coaches love.

Justin Osborne

Class: 2019

Position: Offensive Tackle

Ranking: 3-star, 424th nationally, 38th ranked OT (247Sports)

Height/Weight: 6-foot-4, 275 pounds

School/Hometown: IMG Academy/Bradenton, FL

Offers (TCU Commit): Arizona, Auburn, Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M, Utah

Notes: Osborne is a physical specimen who has a real nasty streak. He plays with a pretty high motor and also uses his hands very well. He can be a little delayed at times where faster players can slightly get the advantage. He seems to have a pretty long wingspan for 6’4” and has solid footwork. He committed to TCU in February and it’ll be interesting to see how Arizona pursues him hard.

Zachary Teter

Class: 2019

Position: Offensive Tackle, Offensive Guard

Ranking: Unranked by 247Sports

Height/Weight: 6-foot-5, 290 pounds

School/Hometown: Lake Gibson High School/Lakeland, FL

Offers: Arizona, California, Cincinnati, Southern Miss, Temple

Notes: Teter is under-recruited and underrated in my opinion. He is a really solid prospect who does pass the eye test. He is a strong human being and uses his hands well. He plays with solid pad level which allows him to use his strength to his advantage. His feet are a little slow and needs some work. But he has the tools and nasty edge that make a great college lineman.

Jaylan Jeffers

Class: 2020

Position: Offensive Tackle

Ranking: 3-star, 422nd nationally, 44th ranked OT (247Sports)

Height/Weight: 6-foot-6, 260 pounds

School/Hometown: Saguaro High School/Scottsdale, AZ

Offers: Arizona, Arizona State, Louisville

Notes: Jeffers will probably end up being one of the best players in the state once the next cycle rolls around. He is already a pretty darn good offensive lineman with the skillset to build around. He seems a little slow off the ball but as soon as he makes contact, he is explosive. He’s another good prospect for UA go get involved with early.

Chad Lindberg

Class: 2020

Position: Offensive Tackle

Ranking: 4-star, 74th nationally, 12 ranked OT (247Sports)

Height/Weight: 6-foot-6, 306 pounds

School/Hometown: Clear Creek High School/League City, TX

Offers: Arizona, Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor, Boston College, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Memphis, Miami, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, SMU, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Tulane, Tulsa, Utah, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin

Notes: Lindberg is already one of the best players in the country for the 2020 class. He is a vicious lineman. He is a large human being and a powerful one as well. He is quick and agile for his size and can bounce between blocks with ease. He will be a tough pull for the ‘Cats but they have plenty of time to make an impact.
