Arizona finished the regular season 40-14 overall and 13-11 in the Pac-12, good for fifth place in the conference.
The Wildcats have won 11 of their last 12 heading into the postseason, though they dropped their regular-season finale to Stanford in Palo Alto on Saturday.
Arizona has reached the NCAA Tournament 31 years in a row, which is the longest streak in the sport. The Wildcats are expected to be a top-16 seed in this year’s circuit, meaning they will get to host a Regional.
Arizona might host a Super Regional, too, but that would require a first-round upset.
Here’s the postseason format, in case you are unfamiliar with it:
Regionals
- Friday, May 18 through Sunday, May 20
- 16 campus sites will have four-team, double-elimination tournaments, with the winners advancing to the Super Regionals.
Super Regionals
- Thursday, May 24 through Sunday, May 27
- Eight campus sites will have two teams playing in a best-of-three format. Winners advance to the NCAA Women’s College World Series.
Women’s College World Series
- Thursday, May 31 through Wednesday, June 6 at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.
- Eight teams compete in a double-elimination bracket, with the last two teams playing in a best-of-three championship series.
