Arizona interested in Old Dominion grad transfer Trey Porter

The big man appears to be a solid two-way player

If there is a graduate transfer out there with a pulse, the Arizona Wildcats are probably interested.

The latest one they are reportedly after is Old Dominion forward Trey Porter, according to Corey Evans of Rivals.com.

The 6-foot-10, 230-pound big man averaged 13.2 points and 6.2 rebounds this past season, helping lead the Monarchs to a 25-7 record.

Despite his first name being Trey, Porter does not shoot 3s, but he is an incredibly efficient scorer, posting a true-shooting percentage of 62.0.

Porter shot 59 percent from the field and got to the free-throw line roughly six times per game, making 67 percent of them.

Old Dominion was an outstanding defensive team this past season, ranking ninth in defensive efficiency. Porter had a big hand in that, blocking 1.3 shots per game and posting the third-best defensive box plus/minus on the team (2.7). He has a 7-foot wingspan.

The Monarchs allowed 93.9 points per 100 possessions as a team, but just 92.9 when Porter was on the floor. Porter almost exclusively played center.

His numbers have made quite the jump from season to season, and his teammates voted him as the Most Improved Player on the team.

Porter started his college career at George Mason, but transferred to Old Dominion after one season.

Several other schools are expected to pursue him now that he’s on the open market. Indiana, Oklahoma State, Georgetown, and DePaul to name a few, according to Evans.

Arizona is set to lose its starting front court and reserve big man Keanu Pinder, but does return Ira Lee and Chase Jeter.

Porter would have a chance to start or be a key piece off the piece. Either way, those three would make a nice trio.
