Arizona after Texas A&M Corpus Christi’s Ehab Amin
The 6-foot-4 Egyptian was a mid-major All-American in his last healthy season
Add another name to list of graduate transfers the Arizona Wildcats are pursuing.
They, along with several other major-conference teams, have reached out to Texas A&M Corpus Christi’s Ehab Amin, according to Jeff Goodman of ESPN.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi grad transfer Ehab Amin told ESPN he has heard from Florida state, Texas A&M, Iowa State, Arizona, Oklohoma state, Seton Hall, Nevada, BYU, Ohio State, Louisville, Texas, Wichita State, NC State and West Virginia. Averaged 17 points per game two years ago

The 6-foot-4 guard missed the 2017-18 season with a hip injury, but was a mid-major All-American in 2016-17 when he averaged 16.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.
The Egyptian was also one of the nation’s leaders in steals, swiping 3.4 per game, and rated as the Islanders’ third-best defender with a defensive box plus/minus of 2.1.
The Islanders were a small team in 2016-17, and Amin had a interesting role in which he split time between power forward and point guard, per KenPom, explaining why his rebounding numbers were so high.
While Amin averaged nearly 17 points per game, he was not an efficient scorer. He shot 46 percent from the field, 29 percent from 3, and 72 percent from the line. He also committed nearly the same amount of turnovers (99) as assists (105).
However, Amin did shoot 37 percent from 3 as a sophomore (albeit he took half as many that season) so he does have potential as an outside threat.
Arizona’s interest in Amin is understandable considering it only has six returning players and zero incoming recruits, thus needing to fill its roster anyway it can.
Amin, who can play immediately, could compete for a starting job or simply provide depth off the bench.
Other grad transfers Arizona has been linked to are:
- Pitt forward Ryan Luther
- Evansville wing Ryan Taylor
- Maine point guard Aaron Calixte
- Idaho State center Novak Topalovic
- Albany guard Joe Cremo
