2020 5-star QB DJ Uiagalelei visits Arizona

The nephew of UA’s new defensive line coach stopped by to check out practice

Sometimes it pays to have connections.

The Arizona Wildcats hosted 2020 5-star quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei for an unofficial visit on Monday. Uiagalelei, of course, is the nephew of Arizona’s new defensive line coach Iona Uiagalelei.

DJ stands at 6-foot-5, 232 pounds and is known for his rocket arm.

The St. John Bosco product (Bellflower, CA) is the No. 8 overall player in his class and No. 1 pro-style quarterback, per 247Sports.

As a sophomore, Uiagalelei completed 66 percent of his passes for 2733 yards, 29 touchdowns, and just two interceptions. He also ran for 379 yards and four touchdowns on 67 carries.

Relatedly, he has offers from powerhouses like Alabama, USC, and Florida State, and can pretty much attend college anywhere he wants.

So the fact Arizona is getting him on campus is pretty incredible, though obviously a big reason — heck, maybe the only reason — for it is because his uncle is on the coaching staff.
