Keyshawn Johnson Jr. is officially at Arizona

It’s never a bad thing to have a Keyshawn Johnson on your side

One of the immediate impacts felt by the Arizona Wildcats after hiring Kevin Sumlin was the potential addition of Nebraska wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson Jr.

Well, it seems the second generation wide receiver has officially enrolled at Arizona after tweeting out a picture of his new CatCard on Wednesday.

Keyshawn Johnson’s Twitter bio now reads ”Student-Athlete @ The University of Arizona”. He is also listed in the university’s phonebook as a pre-business major in the Eller College of Management.

Back in the spring of 2015, Keyshawn Johnson Sr. brought his 7-on-7 team to Arizona to visit during a practice. That team included Khalil Tate among others.

Johnson Jr. was a four-star wide receiver coming out of high school, but his time at Nebraska was a bit turbulent.

Back in June, Keyshawn Sr. pulled his son from the team after the younger Johnson was cited for marijuana possession.

“I never asked him,” Johnson Sr. said about having Johnson Jr. take a leave of absence. “At the end of the day, I don’t think that decision was in his hands. He squandered that decision.”

Johnson Jr. was found to have 4.5 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his dorm room according to a university police report.

Since Johnson Jr. did not play at Nebraska last year, he is expected to be eligible for Arizona this year. Listed at 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, he’ll bring some size to Arizona’s wide receiving corps.

This will be the third player from Calabasas High School to join the Wildcats this offseason. Mykee Irving and Nahe Sulunga have already signed. They join former Calabasas safety Isaiah Hayes on the 2018 Arizona team.

According to MaxPreps, Johnson Jr. had 48 catches for 812 yards and 11 TDs in his senior season at Calbasas. In his junior year, he hauled in 68 catches for 944 yards and six scores.

This could be a huge addition and just give Tate and the Arizona offense another weapon to use in 2018 and beyond.
