4 Arizona Wildcats make Pro Football Focus’ Pac-12 Team of the Week

One name might surprise you

After thrashing the UCLA Bruins 47-30, the Arizona Wildcats had four players named to Pro Football Focus’ Pac-12 Team of the Week.

Unsurprisingly one of those players was Khalil Tate.

The other three were senior guard Jacob Alsadek, junior cornerback Jace Whittaker, and senior defensive back Kwesi Mashack.

Tate had the highest-graded performance among all Pac-12 quarterbacks for the second straight week. And last week, he had the highest grade among all FBS quarterbacks.

The sophomore quarterback ran for 230 yards and two touchdowns on just 15 carries vs. UCLA, plus completed 9 of 13 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown.

Head coach Rich Rodriguez thought Arizona’s blocking up front vs. UCLA was the best it’s been all season, and Alsadek’s 81.9 grade reflects that.

Center Nathan Eldridge made PFF’s Pac-12 Team of the Week last week.

Whittaker had two interceptions and a pass breakup against the Bruins. One of his interceptions went for six, while the other was made in the end zone to prevent six.

Mashack is definitely the surprise name on this list, but the senior did an admirable job filling in for starting free safety Scottie Young Jr. who exited early with an injury.

Rodriguez said Mashack was mostly running with the scout team leading up to the UCLA game, but he obviously made the most of the opportunity he was given.

Mashack had a season-high three tackles (two for loss), and a pass breakup Saturday.
