Arizona football recruiting: 2018 running back Martell Irby commits to Wildcats

The Wildcats pick up another San Diego product

Two-star running back Martell Irby has committed to the Arizona Wildcats, he announced Sunday on Twitter.

The Morse High School (San Diego, Calif.) product is the No. 2650 player in the 2018 class and the No. 166 running back, according to 247Sports.

Arizona is only the Power Five school Irby had an offer to.

The 5-foot-8, 200-pound running back is the 14th commitment in Arizona’s 2018 class and the second commitment from San Diego the Wildcats picked up this week.

San Diego High School athlete Thomas Marcus committed to Arizona on Friday.

Irby also plays some safety at Morse HS, but he fits well in UA’s offense as a running back.

Irby is a physical downhill runner with some wiggle to him. He isn’t looking to put a move on someone, but he can if he wants to. To me, his running style is reminiscent of Arizona running back Nick Wilson.

And with Wilson and Zach Green graduating after the 2017 season, Irby should provide some much-needed depth at the position.

Here are some of Irby’s highlights:
