Arizona basketball recruiting: Jahvon Quinerly showcases skills at NBPA Top 100 Camp
The five-star point guard knows how to put the ball in the hoop
As scouts and coaches alike packed the NBPA Top 100 camp in June, Arizona Wildcats target Jahvon Quinerly had no issues displaying his talent against some of the nation’s top players.
While not exceptionally big, the 6-foot, 170-pound point guard from New Jersey showed he has no fear getting to the hoop and boasts an accurate jump shot with good mechanics.
247Sports lists Quinerly as a five-star prospect, the No. 16 player in the 2018 class, and the No. 4 point guard.
The New Jersey native’s first official visit was to Arizona in June, and it’s unknown when or where the other four will happen — or if they will happen at all.
It’s likely Quinerly will check out nearby Villanova, and he has visited UCLA and Virginia unofficially, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he got those schools to fly him out once the summer AAU season ends.
Speaking of that, Quinerly and UA target Naz Reid, who play for SportsU, will look to defend their Under Armour Association title this weekend in Atlanta.
Quinerly is averaging over 20 points per game this summer, while Reid is the leading rebounder at just over 10 a contest.
Quinerly’s final seven consists of Arizona, UCLA, Kansas, Seton Hall, Stanford, Villanova, and Virginia.
10 of the 11 Crystal Ball predictions have him selecting Arizona. The Wildcats already have a commitment from four-star point guard Brandon Williams for 2018, but clearly aren’t hesitating to add another point guard to the mix.
They are aggressively recruiting five-star point guard Quentin Grimes, too.
