Arizona Wildcats in NBA Summer League: Nick Johnson helps lead Blazers into second round
The former UA guard has scored in double figures in two straight games
After a slow start to Las Vegas Summer League, Nick Johnson has hit his stride for the Portland Trail Blazers.
The former Arizona Wildcats guard had 11 points, five rebounds, and two assists in 25 minutes on Wednesday, shooting 3-7 from the field, 4-5 from the free throw line, and 1-1 from 3.
Johnson helped the Blazers take down the Chicago Bulls, 88-77. Lauri Markkanen did not play for Chicago due to a toe contusion.
On Tuesday, Johnson had 10 points on 4-6 shooting (2-2 3PT) in 12 minutes.
Gabe York and the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Philadelphia 76ers 103-102 on Wednesday. York had three points and two steals, as he shot 1-2 from 3.
Kaleb Tarczewski did not play for the Sixers, who moved into the consolation bracket.
Round 2 starts Thursday
Postseason play continues in Las Vegas on Thursday. Here are the former Wildcats who will be in action:
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and the Brooklyn Nets play the Denver Nuggets at 1:30 p.m. PT.
Kadeem Allen and the Boston Celtics face the Golden State Warriors at 3 p.m. PT.
Kobi Simmons and the Memphis Grizzlies play the Phoenix Suns at 5 p.m. PT.
Brandon Ashley and the Dallas Mavericks take on the Sacramento Kings at 5:30 p.m. PT.
Nick Johnson and the Trail Blazers take on the Toronto Raptors at 7 p.m. PT.
Gabe York and the Lakers square off against the Cleveland Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. PT.
