Arizona basketball recruiting: Cameron Reddish has Wildcats in top 7, will cut list after Peach Jam

Arizona is in the mix for the No. 4 player in 2018

Five-star forward Cameron Reddish plans to cut his list to “five or six” schools in the near future, but as of now the Arizona Wildcats are in the mix to land him.

Reddish told reporters Thursday that his top seven is comprised of Duke, Kentucky, Arizona, UCLA, Villanova, Maryland and Connecticut, but he plans to narrow it after Nike Peach Jam, a five-day event which takes place in North Augusta, South Carolina and ends July 16.

The Westtown School (Norristown, PA) product is the No. 4 player in the 2018 class and the No. 2 small forward, according to 247Sports.

Listed around 6-foot-8, 185 pounds, Scout.com says Reddish’s strengths are his athleticism, shooting mechanics, and size for his position. His weaknesses are his motor, strength, and toughness.

“Cameron Reddish is a talented wing prospect with good size and length for the position, as he stands 6-foot-6 and was measured at USA Basketball with a 7-foot wingspan,” reads Reddish’s scouting report.

“A good athlete, Reddish has potential as a shooter, although his numbers during the EYBL weren't necessarily great. He does have good shot mechanics and is capable of getting hot in catch and shoot situations. Reddish also has potential as a perimeter defender because of his lateral movement, length and athleticism. Reddish does have a tendency to get complacent and needs to consistently play harder, but he's loaded with natural talent.”

Arizona already has forward Shareef O’Neal committed in 2018, but the Wildcats are likely to lose Allonzo Trier and Rawle Alkins to the NBA, at minimum, so they will have playing time up for grabs on the wing in 2018-19.

Duke is considered the frontrunner for Reddish, as 19 of 21 Crystal Ball predictions have him selecting the Blue Devils.

“Reddish will be a primary target for Mike Krzyzewski and John Calipari, while Jay Wright will also watch him as Villanova remains in the running,” wrote Jeff Borzello of ESPN. “Don’t be surprised if UCLA keeps an eye on him, as well.”

Reddish said he plans to commit in "November or December-ish, hopefully.”
