Arizona football: Former Wildcat Freddie Tagaloa to sign with Minnesota Vikings

He earned a deal after a tryout

There were no Arizona Wildcats taken in the 2017 NFL Draft, but one of those guys has worked his way into a multi-year deal.

Offensive lineman Freddie Tagaloa will sign a three-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings after attending their rookie minicamp this weekend according to Andrew Krammer of the Star Tribune. He appears to be the only player from that particular tryout to ink a deal with the team.

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle was the first to report the deal.

At 6-foot-8, it’s not really surprising at all that NFL teams would take a flyer on Tagaloa despite not living up to the hype after transferring to Arizona from Cal.

Tagaloa struggled to regain health in his knees over the past couple of seasons, and was eventually moved from tackle to guard because of his health issues. In 2015, it’s been reported that he tore his MCL and PCL.

He will be one of eight new offensive linemen on the Vikings’ roster right now.

In other former Arizona player news, Aiulua Fanene was originally in Packers camp, but had a tryout with the Indianapolis Colts this past weekend.
