College baseball rankings: Arizona remains largely unchanged in polls

Still right around 20th in all the polls

The Arizona Wildcats’ week didn’t start out great, losing a home game to ASU on Tuesday and then JC Cloney suffering his first loss of the year on Friday at College of Charleston.

Arizona bounced back though, taking the series with C of C, and evening their record at 2-2 for the week.

With that, they didn’t really go anywhere in the various polls. Here’s a look at the newest rankings:

The Wildcats are still right around 20th in all of the polls. However, dropping five spots in the RPI in the span of a week is a bit concerning as a potential Regional hosting bid is on the line.

Over the weekend, the Oregon State Beavers clinched the Pac-12 title with a three-game sweep of the Oregon Ducks in Eugene. It may have also ended Oregon’s chances of making the postseason. OSU is the consensus No. 1 team in the country for the eighth week in a row now.

There are only two weekends left in the regular season before Selection Monday. Arizona travels to Tempe this weekend to take on the Arizona State Sun Devils in a three-game series beginning on Thursday night at 6 PM PT. The following weekend, the California Golden Bears come to Tucson to close out the year.

ASU and Cal are still both right around 80th in the RPI, so the Wildcats will need some wins to not drop too far down and keep that regional host dream alive. Most conferences play a conference tournament the last week (the Pac-12 does not), so weird things are guaranteed to happen that week, and the thought of a Tucson Regional definitely isn’t dead yet.
