Arizona Wildcats in the NFL: Will Parks becomes a hero and the return of Earl Mitchell

Parks wins it for his team, Mitchell has a strong comeback, and Gronk doesn’t have a punctured lung

The NFL’s Week 10 had some really good moments for former Arizona Wildcats. It featured a rookie safety winning it for his team, the return of a defensive line stud, and a near scare for a star tight end.

Will Parks, S (#34), Denver Broncos

2016 Stats: 14 tackles, 1 INT, 1 PBU, and a blocked FG return for a game-winning 2 pts

Parks was the Broncos’ hero on Sunday. With 1:22 to go in the fourth quarter and the New Orleans Saints attempting a go-ahead PAT, Denver safety Justin Simmons jumped over the line and blocked it. That’s when Parks scooped up the loose ball and ran it all the way back for the game-winning two points. No big deal. Oh, and Parks also recorded two tackles. Philly Willy just doing his thing.

Earl Mitchell, DT (#90), Miami Dolphins

2016 Stats: 5 tackles and 2 TFL

Mitchell returned to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday after spending 7+ weeks sidelined with a calf injury. And he showed out. Mitchell was absolutely vicious and managed to wreak havoc in the San Diego backfield. Miami ended up beating the San Diego Chargers 31-24. Mitchell recorded four tackles, included two TFL.

Rob Gronkowski, TE (#87), New England Patriots

2016 Stats: 25 rec, 540 yds, 3 TD

So reports were that Gronk suffered a punctured lung after this hit from Seattle safety Earl Thomas and had this to say after the game. Well, after the initial report, ESPN’s Adam Schefter stated that Gronk has a chest injury and it’s “not overly serious.” Still, after the massive hit he took, Gronk went back out there and finished the game. He snagged three catches for 56 yards in New England’s 31-24 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Trevin Wade, DB (#31), New York Giants

2016 Stats: 15 tackles and 2 PBU

Wade had a decent game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Wade recorded two tackles and a PBU in a one-point 21-20 Giants win.

Robert Golden, S (#21), Pittsburgh Steelers

2016 Stats: 31 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 PBU

The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys had a very tense and back-and-forth game on Sunday. It wasn’t necessarily a defensive struggle, but more of an offensive one. When the dust settled the Cowboys came out on top 35-30. Golden was rather quiet, only recording two tackles.

Ka’Deem Carey, RB (#25), Chicago Bears

2016 Stats: 27 car, 209 yds, 0 TD; 4 rec, 43 yds, 0 TD

Carey did not have that productive of a day Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He had only two carries for -1 yards and 16 yards on his only catch in Chicago’s 36-10 loss. Carey was battling an illness earlier in the week which could’ve impacted his performance on Sunday.

Marquis Flowers, LB (#53), Cincinnati Bengals

2016 Stats: 5 tackles

Flowers only recorded a tackle in Cincy’s 21-20 loss to the New York Giants on Monday Night Football.

Nick Folk, K (#2), New York Jets

2016 Stats: FG: 16-for-18 with a long of 48 yards; PAT: 17-for-19

Folk missed his only kick on Sunday, which was an extra point attempt. The Jets lost to the Los Angeles Rams 9-6.

Brooks Reed, LB/DE (#50), Atlanta Falcons

2016 Stats: 14 tackles and 1 forced fumble

Reed did not record any stats in Atlanta’s 24-15 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Nick Foles, QB (#4), Kansas City Chiefs

2016 Stats: 36-for-55, 410 yds, 4 TD, 0 INT; 4 car, -4 yds, 0 TD

Foles was questionable and limited in practice last week due to an elbow injury. He did not see action on Sunday.
