Arizona basketball: Kadeem Allen, Allonzo Trier out for Wildcats vs. Cal State Bakersfield
Two key returners are out for the home opener
When the Arizona Wildcats take the floor at McKale Center for the first time in 2016-17, they will be without both Kadeem Allen and Allonzo Trier.
Trier’s status with the team continues to be up in the air as questions about his eligibility continue to hover over like a dark cloud. Allen injured his knee towards the end of the Michigan State game, but powered through it to eventually make the game-winning basket.
Here is Arizona’s official statement on Allen’s injury:
Arizona senior guard Kadeem Allen will not play in tonight’s game versus Cal State Bakersfield due to a sprained left knee suffered in the Wildcats’ last game. He will continue to be evaluated as the week progresses.
Cal State Bakersfield was a tournament team last year after winning the WAC Tournament in Las Vegas. In the first round of the NCAA Tournament, they gave the Oklahoma Sooners a close game, trailing by just four points with four minutes remaining.
It’ll be interesting to see what Arizona can do without two of its best returners, and how the freshmen will respond in their first home game that actually counts.
Arizona and Bakersfield will tip-off at 8 PM MT on Pac-12 Network.
