Arizona football recruiting: Coaching staff parts ways with 2-star DT Elijah Watson
A decision made by the coaching staff
The Arizona Wildcats have decided to part ways with one of their defensive line commits, Elijah Watson. The 6-foot-3, 280 pound defensive tackle was one of the first commitments of the summer.

The decommitment was not a result of Arizona’s record, nor do I expect any decommits to follow. It was a decision made by the coaching staff to part ways. Just a few days ago, Watson tweeted about heading to Arizona in eight weeks, so this is a bit of a new development.
His family had told me that he was planning to graduate in December and enroll at Arizona this spring. His decision to transfer to IMG Academy was also due to the fact that the staff believed he could contribute immediately.
In October, a report from Rivals surfaced, announcing that Watson had decommitted from Arizona, with other SEC schools coming into the picture. Watson later told me that it was all a big misunderstanding.
Arizona is down to two defensive tackles for the 2017 class. They are: Kurtis brown, who is recovering from a torn meniscus, and Austin Faoliu.
