Arizona basketball recruiting: Top-30 2018 Emmanuel Akot names Wildcats in final four

Basketball recruiting at Arizona never seems to slow down.

Everybody’s eyes are on the Arizona Wildcats’ 2017 class right now, and understandably so with DeAndre Ayton and Alex Barcello already committed, plus a long list of potential impact players who will be visiting or are considering the Wildcats.

Creeping up on us, however, are top notch players in the 2018 class. This includes Emmanuel Akot, currently a four-star prospect via 247Sports’ Composite rankings, though I wouldn’t be surprised to see him break into the five-star threshold.

The 6-foot-7, 190-pound wing recently named the Wildcats in his final four teams along with Oregon, Utah, and Louisville. Apparently, he’s a fan of Pac-12 basketball.

Akot plays for Wasatch Academy in Utah after recently moving from Canada and has flown under the radar thus far.

In terms of his skillset, Scout says that he’s a streaky shooter but is really good at getting to the hoop. Akot described himself as “versatile; I can play the one through four. I can score and pass. I’m working on my jumper and getting stronger.”

“To go with his offensive arsenal, Akot has the potential to defend multiple positions and do so quite effectively, as he moves his feet well laterally and possesses good instincts, strength, athleticism, and length,” Evan Daniels wrote back in May.

While Akot will need to get stronger and hone his jump shot, he’ll athletically be ready to play when the 2018 season comes to fruition, giving Sean Miller the luxury of another ridiculously talented wing if he ends up making a commitment to the Wildcats.
