Arizona Wildcats in the NFL: Injury bug hitting former UA players as well

A lot of former Wildcats did not play due to injury

During Week 4 of the NFL schedule, five out of the ten former Arizona Wildcats had injuries. Although a couple of them still played, they didn’t make a big impact for their team.

Let’s take a look at how the Arizona alums did.

Trevin Wade, DB (#31), New York Giants

Wade saw the field for pretty much the entirety of the Giants’ loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He did not have a great game coverage-wise, but did finish with six tackles.

2016 Stats: 8 tackles

Nick Folk, K (#2), New York Jets

Folk continued to show why he is highly regarded and relied on by the Jets. He was 1-for-1 on field goal attempts, sinking a 34-yarder. He was also 2-for-2 on PATs. The Jets did lose, however, to the Seattle Seahawks 27-17.

2016 Stats: FG: 8-for-9 with a long of 45 yards; PAT: 7-for-8

Marquis Flowers, LB (#53), Cincinnati Bengals

Flowers has played in all of Cincy’s games this year, and Thursday was no exception. The third year player once again only had one tackle in the Bengals’ 22-7 win over Miami.

2016 Stats: 3 tackles

Brooks Reed, LB/DE (#50), Atlanta Falcons

Reed has been dealing with a shoulder injury most of the season and was listed as “questionable” coming into Sunday’s game against the Panthers. The positive is that Reed was healthy enough to see the field, although limited, and recorded a tackle in Atlanta’s record-setting win against Carolina. The Falcons will have to monitor Reed’s time in order to ensure his shoulder heals properly.

2016 Stats: 1 tackle

Rob Gronkowski, TE (#87), New England Patriots

A nagging hamstring injury has slowed down arguably the best pass-catching tight end in the NFL all season. Gronk was also listed as “questionable” heading into the Pats’ Sunday contest against the Buffalo Bills. He did play and had 11 yards on a catch, but that was about it. The Patriots’ offense couldn’t get anything going and was shut out by Buffalo 16-0.

2016 Stats: 1 rec, 11 yds, 0 TD

Ka’Deem Carey, RB (#25), Chicago Bears

Carey was out once again due to the hamstring injury he suffered against Philadelphia.

2016 Stats: 3 car, 7 yds, 0 TD; 1 rec, 3 yds, 0 TD

Nick Foles, QB (#4), Kansas City Chiefs

Foles once again rode the sideline the entire game on Sunday. His Chiefs lost badly to the Pittsburgh Steelers 43-14.

Robert Golden, S (#21), Pittsburgh Steelers

Golden was out for the Steelers’ Sunday shellacking of the Chiefs due to a hamstring injury.

2016 Stats: 17 tackles, 1 PBU, 1 fumble recovery, 1 stuff

Earl Mitchell, DT (#90), Miami Dolphins

Mitchell is still on IR due to re-aggravating a calf injury he has had since fall camp.

2016 Stats: 1 tackle

Will Parks, S (#34), Denver Broncos

After snagging his first career interception against the Bengals, the rookie safety did not record any stats against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

2016 Stats: 3 tackles, 1 INT, 1 PBU
