Jim Furyk becomes first to ever shoot 58 in PGA Tour event

A former Wildcat makes some history

There’s been a lot of rounds played by golfers on the PGA Tour. About 1.5 million if you’re looking for a number. Never before had anyone shot a 58 in one of those rounds until Sunday.

Former Arizona golfer Jim Furyk did it, carding ten birdies and an eagle in the final round of the Travelers’ Championship, including seven-straight birdies from holes 6-12.

Furyk was 16 shots off the lead heading into Sunday’s action, so this doesn’t even get him to the top of the leaderboard. Things were going so poorly for Furyk that he apparently did something he’s never done before looking for some help:

Jim Furyk was one of the golfers that had shot 59 before, but now he’s cemented his place in golf history with this particular round.
