Sonoran Hot Reads: Four-star defensive end Hunter Echols commits to USC
Arizona misses out on a highly-ranked defensive lineman
After he had decommitted from UCLA a few weeks ago, it looked like the Arizona Wildcats were in good position to land four-star DE Hunter Echols. Well, towards the end of Friday’s practice, word got out that Echols was about to announce a new school decision. The Arizona coaching staff didn’t get the news they were hoping for, as he committed to USC. This might be a recruitment that’s not even close to being over though
- It wasn’t all bad news on the recruiting trail Friday as Arizona did earn a verbal pledge from in-state product Jalen Harris
- Are you bold enough to bet the over on 7.5 wins for the Wildcats this year?
- An interesting thing to watch this fall will be whether or not Zach Benjamin will be cleared by the NCAA to play this year
- Rich Rodriguez was very non-committal on the status of Keenan Walker after the first practice of the fall

Basketball
- Brian Bowen, the 13th-ranked player in the country, has Arizona in his final 12 schools. However, all signs point to him choosing Michigan State
- Errick McCollum wrote a piece for the Players Tribune about Kyle Fogg’s Overseas Elite team
Baseball
- Bobby Dalbec had an enormous game on, of all days, Princess Night
- Scott Kingery went 3-for-5 while Kevin Newman was 1-for-3 as Kingery’s Reading squad won 6-3. Reading has a record of 75-37 this year
