Sonoran Hot Reads: Kevin Cordes advances to 100 meter breaststroke final

A former Wildcat will have a chance at an Olympic medal Sunday night

The Olympics got underway in earnest on Saturday, and two athletes with ties to the University of Arizona were in action in the pool. Kevin Cordes took second place in his 100m breaststroke semifinal with a time of 59.33 seconds, putting him in Lane 2 for Sunday’s final. It will take place at 6:53 PM, and you should stream it on NBCOlympics.com because Tucson didn’t show Saturday’s primetime events live. Great Britain’s Adam Peaty is the heavy favorite after he set a new world record in the event in the prelims, which happened to be his first-ever Olympic swim
