Sonoran Hot Reads: Arizona Sand Volleyball heading to first NCAA beach tournament

A chance to be the first-ever NCAA champs at something for the Wildcats

This year has been the first that beach volleyball was an NCAA sponsored sport, and the Arizona Wildcats are headed to the first-ever NCAA Tournament in the sport. Eight teams were selected for the inaugural event, which will take place in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The selection happened the same day that Arizona advanced to the Pac-12 Finals through the loser's bracket, taking out UCLA along the way. The Bruins are seeded 4th in the NCAA Tournament, with the Wildcats 6th. Arizona will take on Pepperdine in the first round on May 6th at 10 AM PT on TruTV. The full bracket is here

- Offensive lineman Gerhard de Beer threw the ninth-best discus toss in the country this weekend

- Jordan Gumberg finished second in the Pac-12 Men's Golf Championships, but the team finished 10th. Gumberg got this tiny little trophy for his troubles:
