Sonoran Hot Reads: Arizona Cardinals wanted Scooby Wright
This would have certainly brought some attention to Arizona
As the end of the NFL Draft drew near, teams across the league were starting to roundup some undrafted guys to sign as free agents. The Arizona Cardinals were no exception to this, and with Scooby Wright III still on the board with just a few picks left, head coach Bruce Arians reached out to the former Arizona Wildcats star:
"The running game isn't as important as the passing game, and if you're not a three-down player --- Scooby's a great blitzer and I actually had Scooby on the phone, begging him to come with us as a free agent because I think he has something special about him, and the Browns drafted him."
That's right. Begging. After passing on him over and over and over again. The NFL is such a weird place
- Wright was just one of a lot of Pac-12 guys that turned out to be the biggest steals according to Bruce Feldman
- The Pac-12 struggling in the draft is probably the perfect precursor to the conference's annual meetings. There are plenty of issues to be worked out at those meetings in Scottsdale
- Stop us when you've heard this before, but Connor Brewer apparently had a "strong spring" for Viginia. The Cavaliers have a very crowded QB race, which Brewer is certainly used to
- Arizona's "QB competition" probably has a lot more to do with Anu Solomon injuries than anything
- Will we see more in-state prospects choose Arizona this year? Gabe thinks so
- Four-star WR Jermaine Eskridge has Arizona in his top ten, and it's kind of funny seeing Arizona in this group of schools again:

- We all love T.J. McConnell. Let's welcome Liberty Ballers into that official club since they want to swipe right on TJM in their offseason tinder game
- Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye each had eight points in the Cavaliers' series-opening win over the Hawks
- Kobi Simmons appears to be the best player to have ever played at his high school:

- Zach Gibbons kept rolling this weekend even as the team dropped the final two games of the USC series
- Kevin Ginkel was named the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week
Softball
- After getting shutout in Eugene this weekend, Arizona is down to 21st in the RPI
Other sports
- Check out some of the awesome photos from this past week
- The Pac-12 All-Century golf teams are out. Arizona alum Annika Sorenstam was named the Golfer of the Century on the women's side. She's joined by fellow Wildcats Lorena Ochoa and Marisa Baena on the women's team
- On the men's side, Jim Furyk and Ricky Barnes represent U of A
