Arizona vs. Stanford: Wildcats players of the game

Who wasn't totally awful?

The Arizona Wildcats looked, well, not wild, and not cat-like at all on Saturday against the Stanford Cardinal.

Are there guys who didn't look like they belonged in the Sun Belt? Maybe. Let's try and give out players of the game honors:

Offense: Johnny Jackson

I don't think it can be stressed enough that Johnny Jackson did not even start fall camp at wide receiver, and now through five games, he leads the team in catches. Also, he seems to love playing against Stanford. In 2012, he caught ten balls for 75 yards. Unfortunately for him, Arizona didn't play Stanford the last two years.

He returned to Palo Alto this week and put up five catches for 84 yards and a touchdown. No other Wildcat had more than 35 yards receiving. Imagine what Jackson's career would have been like if he had decided to go to Stanford. He'd probably set every receiver record ever.

Defense: Blake Martinez

Martinez led the Wildcats with 13 tack.......wait, he doesn't play for Arizona? I just assumed a guy who went to CDO, rooted for the Wildcats, and is that good would have picked Arizona. Could you imagine this defense with Scooby and Blake?

Thanks for nothing Stoops.

Special teams: Drew Riggleman

We could probably just rename this the Riggleman Award. Six punts that averaged over 48 yards per kick, including one that went 65 yards. Frankly, Riggleman's going to keep winning this until Arizona shows any semblance of a return game.
