Arizona Football Recruiting: Matthew Gutwald picking up interest from power schools

One of Arizona's biggest targets is garnering a lot of attention

One of Arizona's biggest targets this summer, Matthew Gutwald, is picking up a lot of attention from some power schools across the country. He told me this, and also informed me Tuesday night that he will make the trip to Arizona this weekend.

The 3-star, 6-4 275 lbs offensive guard out of Dublin, CA had previously told me that Arizona and Oregon were his top two schools, but he was still open to hearing from other schools. With that, Gutwald says that there is a mutual interest when it comes to Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and Stanford.

He feels that Oklahoma is close to offering, meanwhile Notre Dame is just starting to come in contact with him and he'll wait to get to get a better read on Stanford.

When I spoke with Gutwald a few weeks ago, it seems as if education was a big factor in his recruiting process, noting that he had some interest in several Ivy League schools. That interest in education makes these football powers like Notre Dame and Stanford make for very intriguing players in the recruiting process of Gutwald. He also noted his ability to fit in the system and his chances at playing early as other decision factors.

We'll keep up with Gutwald's recruiting process as he continues to pick up more attention.
