2015 NBA Free Agency: Richard Jefferson changes mind, will now sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers instead of the Dallas Mavericks
Once believed to be re-signing the Mavericks, the former Wildcat is now reportedly joining to the best team in the East
A few days after free agency began, former Wildcat Richard Jefferson agreed to a deal with the Dallas Mavericks. Apparently he never officially signed the contract, and has had a change of heart. He'll now apparently be joining LeBron James and the reigning Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers, according to ESPN's Marc Stein:
Another curveball in Mavs' offseason: Hearing that vet swingman Richard Jefferson, thought to be staying in Dallas, now signing with Cavs

DeAndre Jordan also backed away from a commitment with the Mavericks, and I'm assuming that Jefferson's actions are related.
Once the Mavericks lost out on Jordan, their chance of making a run in the Western Conference went out the window. Jefferson just turned 35 and likely wants to spend his last years in the league on a team that has a chance to win a title.
Obviously it's way too early to know what Jefferson's role on the Cavs will be, but his shooting ability and veteran presence is something that any contending team could use.
Jefferson joins Bret Brielmaier in the "former Wildcat, and now a Cavalier" group. The latter is currently an assistant coach for the team.
