Arizona Football Recruiting: Breaking down 4-star defensive end commit Josh Allen

Arizona's most prized recruit of 2016 so far

It was only a matter of time until Arizona landed Josh Allen. The 6-4 260lb defensive end out of Long Beach City College is ranked as the No. 2 JUCO end and No. 11 JUCO product overall, No. 1 out of the state of California.

He held offers to Arizona State, Boise State, and Louisville, among others. A few weeks ago, he had told me Arizona was his leader and that he would commit this weekend if the timing was right.

There is a clear need for size on the defensive line, and Arizona just got it. He's just a mean, nasty dude on the end and can work his way around the line to attack the quarterback. He can disrupt the offense and cause mayhem in the battle. Allen has a high IQ on his pursuit and can line up at the three or five technique and can play in a two, three or four-point stance. Quite honestly, there might not be a better defensive end prospect that Arizona has landed.

Allen will be able to come in immediately next year and replace Reggie Gilbert and give the Arizona defense that hard edge up front in the trenches.
