2015 MLB Draft results: Arizona IF Scott Kingery selcted 48th overall by the Philadelphia Phillies

Scott Kingery slips to the second round and the Phillies

The second Arizona player selected in the 2015 MLB Draft is officially Scott Kingery. He was taken 48th overall by the Philadelphia Phillies with the team's second round draft pick.

After playing the first two seasons in the outfield, Kingery moved back into the infield for his junior season, and his production really took off.

Kingery won the Pac-12 batting title in 2015, finishing with a .392 batting average.

This is the first time the Phillies have taken an Arizona player since 2006 when they picked Jason Donald in the third round.

Kingery's college teammate Kevin Newman appeared to be an option for the Phillies at No. 10 overall, but my feeling is they got the better Arizona middle infielder in the second round.

It looked like Kingery would be taken sometime before the second round, so the Phillies probably got pretty good value here.
