The Khalil Tate experiment was short lived in Philadelphia. The former Arizona Wildcats quarterback was waived by the Eagles on Monday, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.
The Eagles have waived WR Khalil Tate, an undrafted free agent who was a standout QB during his college career at Arizona.

The Eagles were planning to give the undrafted free agent a try at wide receiver, though the experts over at Bleeding Green Nation told us it was always unlikely he was going to make the roster or even the practice squad given the number of receivers on the roster.
By being released now, Tate didn’t even get a shot at OTAs with the Eagles, which were postponed due to the coronavirus crisis.
It will be interesting to see if Tate gets scooped up by another NFL franchise and which position he plays. Tate could be helped by a new NFL proposal that would increase the size of practice squads from 12 players to 16.
Tate is coming off a senior season in which he started nine games, and threw for 1,954 yards with 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
He also ran for 413 yards and three scores, though that was nothing compared to his sophomore season when he rushed for 1,411 yards and emerged as a legitimate Heisman candidate before seeing his production dip as a junior and senior after Kevin Sumlin took over for Rich Rodriguez.
