The Arizona Wildcats have secured their 17th commitment of the 2021 recruiting class as New Orleans-based wide receiver Tyrese Johnson announced his decision via Twitter on Monday.

The 6-foot-1, 190 pound receiver out of KIPP Booker T. Washington High School is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 483 player in the 2021 recruiting class, the second-highest among Arizona’s commits behind only quarterback Clay Millen (422nd). He is considered the 79th-bet wide receiver in the country and the No. 14 prospect from Louisiana.

Johnson held 18 scholarship offers, including from a handful of SEC school. He chose Arizona over Arkansas, Colorado, Florida State, Louisville, Miami, Mississippi State and Tennessee, among others. He is also a college basketball prospect and holds offers to Georgetown, Steven F. Austin and UAB.

Johnson is Arizona’s third 2021 pledge from New Orleans, along with running back Montrell Johnson and linebacker Kolbe Cage. The Wildcats’ class is now ranked 45th in the country and sixth in the Pac-12.
