Derrick Williams’ pro career will take him to another part of the globe, as it was announced Wednesday that he is signing with Valencia of Liga ACB, Spain’s top league.

Valencia finished in third place the last two seasons and also participates in the EuroLeague, the second-best league in the world.

Williams spent the 2019-20 season with Turkey’s Fenerbahce, where he averaged 10.8 points and 3.7 rebounds per game while shooting 47 percent from the field and 36 percent from 3. The 29-year-old said he turned down NBA offers to play there.

Before that, Williams averaged 12.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game with the German club Bayern Munich. That was his second year playing overseas. In 2017-18, he starred for the Tianjin Gold Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association.

That was after Williams spent parts of seven seasons with six different NBA teams after he was the No. 2 overall pick out of Arizona in 2011. He was the Pac-10 Player of the Year and All-American that year after averaging 19.5 points and 8.3 rebounds on 59.5 percent shooting.

In 428 career NBA games (112 starts), Williams averaged 8.9 points and 4.0 rebounds with a shooting line of .434/.300/.710.
